SEC Newgate UK hosted a full day of events at the Heimatmuseum in Davos, a setting that perfectly reflected the intersection of global and local issues. Conversations this week have been dominated by Donald Trump’s presidency and his agenda for the next four years, with energy experts questioning the long-term benefits of his focus on fossil fuels for the U.S. economy.

Yet, there’s been a clear message from emerging markets; climate action transcends any single leader or country. Discussions with representatives from Latin America, Africa, and Asia have offered fresh perspectives on innovation and investment, reshaping how these topics are viewed.

What’s been striking is the optimism - many believe the future can be shaped positively through collaboration and an openness to learning from diverse viewpoints. For us, this has reinforced the importance of fostering connections, listening, and facilitating meaningful conversations to navigate complex challenges.

There is a sense of optimism about the future that has surprised me. There is value in sharing and listening after all.
