Hidden Gem: God’s Own Junkyard, Walthamstow

Think of a North East London industrial estate and you probably don’t imagine a fun afternoon out. However, God’s Own Junkyard, nestled in the heart of Walthamstow, is very much the exception to this. In an unassuming warehouse you’ll find a psychedelic extravaganza of quirky neon lights, eclectic signs and vintage disco balls. Set up by a former Hollywood prop designer, God’s Own Junkyard is a feast for the eyes. If you’ve got kids, they’ll be sure to love the dazzling colours, but be warned – some of the signs are rather risqué!

The warehouse also contains a small cafe, and for those with an eye for interior design, many of the neon signs are available for sale or hire (though they aren’t cheap, presumably in order to cover the electricity bill).
